About this listen

The official novelization of the brand new game

His vengeance against the gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive...and teach his son to do the same.

This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series - satisfying combat, breathtaking scale, and a powerful narrative - and fuses them anew.

Mimir is the best story teller

Mimir is such a great story teller. Such a good thing to get all the little nuances written in the story, but maybe not shown overtly in the game. Brilliant.

Great adventure story.

loved the story Ann's how it incorporates a heap of Nordic mythology.
Interesting hearing my first audible book with a Scottish accent, but it was very entertaining and well spoken.

Nice

I haven't played the game but I can easily imagine how the game would have played by how the story was described. There were a few times where it wasn't clear that the setting has changed and the story moved to the next part. Maybe this would have looked like just a bigger gap in the paragraphs of it was written. A few times, the description of what is happening in the scene is hard to understand. The narrator performed very well, even if a Scottish accent isn't particularly appropriate when the story is about Norse gods. I guess the characters were pretty accurate, although the character flaws, especially with Kratos, can be irritating. It was enjoyable enough.

True to the events in the game!

It was like I was reliving the game while I got on with my chores. It's an awesome story line and I can't wait for the sequel.
I found the story mature and the characters realistically emotional (or in some cases unemotional). The construction of each paragraph was well written with descriptions not feeling tedious. The story didn't hang on the small fights but concentrated more on the main story line. Kratos and son both evolved through the story in a way you'd expect. Loved it.

An excellent audiobook adaption of the game

This was an excellent adaption of the game. I thought the story might be hard to tell without gameplay elements, but it was masterfully done and didn't drag out at all. In fact, you get a few extra details here that aren't explicitly given in the game, so well worth a listen.
