About this listen
In Ginger Kid, popular comedian Steve Hofstetter grapples with life after seventh grade...when his world fell apart. Formatted as a series of personal essays, Steve walks his listeners through awkward early dating, family turbulence, and the revenge of the bullied nerds.
This YA nonfiction is sure to be the beloved next volume for the first generation of Wimpy Kid fans who are all grown up and ready for a new misfit hero.

Amazing. I am stunned
Only half way through Ginger Kid and I already had to face a simple fact... this is affecting me far more than I would like to admit. My story in life was also quite a roller coaster ride, but let's just say that being bullied as a skinny white honour roll foreigner atheist in the Middle East was... vastly different yet eerily similar to being a Ginger Kid in the US. While it isn't a "that's exactly like me" story for me as it may be for many people, the heartstrings it pulls are very much the same. The combination of sadness, but also nostalgia made me stop my car on the way to work today, just so that I could breathe it all in.
I read a LOT. By which I mean that when I see people boast on Reddit how they have read a book every day of the year, I laugh when I see the word count of those "pamphlets". So when I say that I don't think I have been this excited to read (in this case listen to) this book as I was when Wise Man's Fear came out and as I will be when Doors of Stone finally hit the shelves... I really want you to know how "serious" that is.
Thank you Steve.
I only wish I could have read (in this case listened to) this when I was a teen... but will definitely read to my kids.
Also, isn’t it always great when the author records their own audiobook? Especially in this case, where it is a stand up comedian and the comic timing simply “lands”.
