About this listen

From best-selling author Danielle L. Jensen comes a thrilling new novel in the Dark Shores world, a series that Sarah J. Maas called "everything I look for in a fantasy novel".

Their battles ended in victory....

Lydia returns to Mudaire to enter training at the healing temple. But instead of fighting to save lives, she’s convinced she is doing more harm than good. She delves into the history of the gods only to discover a truth that will change her life forever.

His birthright as commander of the Royal Army is finally in his grasp, but Killian feels anything but victorious. Burdened by his past, he embraces the darker side of his mark - and in doing so, risks starting a war.

But the war has only just begun....

Having defeated the tyrant Urcon, Marcus struggles to form a lasting alliance with the Arinoquians. But he is plagued by the knowledge that there is a traitor among his friends, and it could cost him everything that he’s fought for.

Torn between her growing allegiance to the 37th legion and her need to liberate her people, Teriana finds herself mired in a web of secrets. She embarks upon a path that will either save everyone she loves - or put them all in their graves.

Listeners may listen to either Dark Shores or Dark Skies first!

The ending W T F - Cliffhanger

Okay this book is long. Like two days of non stop day listening whilst trying to power through my normal e wry day activities. But, just like Cresent City by Sarah J Maas (if you haven’t read it, you must do so immediately) I relished all 29 or so hours. It was like a gift that kept giving.
The first two books are much slower than this. Okay the first book I felt was the slowest but book 2 was much more enthralling and well this book has both of those elements combined and then on steroids.
Soooo much happens but it doesn’t feel like an information overload. But still, lots happen that come together at the end and has made me want to go back to re listen to the first quarter of the book to pay proper attention to some conversations that I now know give much more background and information around certain people and things that were not obvious at the time.
I just love Killian and Lydia so so much. Marcus and Tariana too and much more so than the first book.

If you loved dark shores and dark skies than you are really going to love this book. The only negative I have is that it ends in a massive cliffhanger and there’s no information as to how long we need to wait for book 4.
That is such a pet peeve of mine. I usually only embark on book series when I know the series is complete and I can devour them as eagerly as one would a Netflix binge. But again, this can only speak to how much I enjoyed the series and wanting more.
10/10 all round. Shoutout to the narrators. Again they have done a fantastic job.
Can’t wait for the next book. I’ll have it on preorder as soon as it is possible to do so.

A great read

Unlike some other series this did not feel like a ‘filler’ just to lead up to the last book. The was a lot of action and story lines woven through the book but it all flowed very well. I can’t wait for the last instalment!
