About this listen
He's a troubled young actor, Hollywood's newest heartthrob, struggling with fame as the star of the latest superhero franchise. Through scandal after scandal, addiction on top of addiction, a flurry of paparazzi hunt him as he fights to conquer his demons.
She's a single mother, assistant manager at a grocery store, existing in monotony with her five-year-old daughter. Every day when she goes to work, lurid tabloids surround her, the face of a notorious bad boy haunting her from their covers.
A man and a woman, living vastly different lives, but that wasn't always the case. Once, they were just a boy and a girl who bonded over comic books and fell in love unexpectedly.
When Kennedy Garfield met Jonathan Cunningham back in high school, she knew he had all the makings of a tragic hero. With stars in his eyes, and her heart on her sleeve, the pair ran away together to follow their dreams. But dreams, sometimes, turn into nightmares.
Now, years later, the only thing they share is a daughter - one who has no idea her father plays her favorite superhero. But Jonathan is desperate to make amends, and at the top of his list is the woman who gave up everything for him and the little girl he hasn't yet met.
Contains mature themes.

I have so many thoughts.
I had hoped for more angst. I like a heartbreaking story that makes me cry.
I kind of love Kennedy's mom.
The one thing that irritated me was how adamant Kennedy was about refusing the child support sent from Johnathon. I feel like she put her pride before her daughter at that moment. I get the pride thing. But it's your kid. Take the money and use it for them. Open them an account and deposit it there for her future. Buy the new washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher.
Kennedy's dad grew on me.
I liked the second chance romance but I feel like this dragged in parts.

Sweet
Great character progression using a dual technique. Engaging for the audience where you are rooting for everything to work out.

Enjoyed the story
I enjoyed the story and Joe Arden the male narrator. However I often found the female narrator distracting. She did a good child voice and an Ok male one. However I sometimes got confused about whether she was doing the male or female.
Despite this I did enjoy this audio as Joe and story good.

Amazing story.
Wow just wow. I loved this book. The struggle and the representation of addiction. Over coming it and healing. Coming back to family, it was great.
