Publisher's Summary
Hiro
Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death...the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense. Still, the more I’m around Maddox, the more I realize that beneath that surly exterior is a kind and caring man who will do anything to help.
Maddox
When another man dies, I know we have a serial killer on our hands - the same murderer who has remained elusive for a year and a half. To add to my frustration, I keep running into Hiro at crime scenes, only to hear him claim that he can talk to ghosts. The words of the dead could lead us to the serial killer and even tell us who is next, but ghosts? There’s no such thing as ghosts. Hiro is determined and charming, and no matter what I do, I can’t stop letting him get involved. He's definitely snagged my attention, but when he nearly winds up dead, I know he's getting closer to the truth - and if I don’t do something soon, he might be next.
Ghost of Lies is full of action, mystery, humor, and romance. Though more is planned for this couple, the mystery is solved and there is a happy ending.

Great start to the series
Really enjoyed Ghost of Lies due to the entertainment value of the ghosts, mainly Natalie & Reggie. They were both hilarious and really enjoyed messing with Hiro, they both got such a kick out of constantly stirring him up.
Always glad when it isn't obvious who the bad guy is going to be, not being able to pick them out kept me guessing right up until the big reveal. This author is hit & miss for me, some of her series I've absolutely loved, others I've had difficulty getting through the first book. Happy to say ghost of Lies is going into the first category.
Greg Boudreaux, as usual, puts in a wonderful performance - I do very much enjoy listening to audios that he narrates.

Kept me listening and unable to stop. The narrator’s voice is captivating and listening to him create a visual scene in my mind.

Great story with lots of laughs
Loved this story, very unique and the characters were very engaging. Loved Greg Boudreaux’s narration which really brought the characters (and ghosts!) to life. I burst out laughing a couple of times while listening to it when grocery shopping. Some customers think I’m weird now ;) I thought I knew where this story was going a couple of times to be thwarted at the end. Looking forward to starting the next instalment asap. If you haven’t read/listened to Alice Winters before I highly recommend you start now!

Seriously fantastic!
I don’t know how Alice does it? Another fantastic story and a truely wonderful voiceover also. Just suited the characters and the story perfectly.

Outstanding Narrator and Story
This one is fantastic, and Greg Bordreaux once again proved why he is one of my top 2 narrators.
I had no clue who the killer was until it actually came to it. Absolutely. No. Clue. I'll admit I'm never the fastest one to pick 'whodunit', but I usually have a bit of an idea or a 'maybe it's them' list by 3/4 through. But nope, zip, nada. Complete surprise!
I love Alice Winters' humour, but for me it doesn't work so much on the written page, but in conjunction with a good narrator/voice actor (let's face it they are actors not just narrators), it is pure gold.

Warmth, humour with a dash of dastardly!
When Alice Winters teams up with narrator Greg Boudreaux, you are in for a great time. I fall in love with all the characters every time I re listen to her books. I think every one needs to have a stripper ghost haunting them! You will be guaranteed to be laughing at all the characters antics throughout the book bur also could have some tears at final goodbyes in the story. Cannot wait till the next one to re listen to, again. Please do not ever stop doing what you do best, entertaining us!!!

So good
I've been passing by this book because I really don't like ghost themed stories but a book slump made me give it a go.
Best decision ever!
It's so well written and the narration is one of the best I've listened to - just so on point. He's got the perfect sassy tone for Hiro and the gruff grumpy detective who reluctantly yet inevitably falls for him.
This is going to be one of those pick-me-up books that I re-listen to all the time and is going straight to my favourites collection 🤓

3* romance/4* mystery/5* sassy side characters
Definitely recommend having a box of tissues handy for the last 10min. 😭 All the feels!
A little to heavy emotionally to be called a cosy romance mystery but it has very similar elements, no graphic gore or violence, a prickly cinnamon roll love interest, adorable sassy animal sidekick and so on.
I was kept guessing right up to the reveal but I'm wondering if that's because I didn't find it clear who was where when. Will definitely listen to again to see if I can connect the dots.
