About this listen
After narrowly escaping Nazi terror, Rowland Sinclair and his companions land in London, believing they are safe. But they are wrong. A bizarre murder plunges the hapless Australians into a queer world of British aristocracy, fascist Blackshirts, illicit love, scandal and spies. A world where gentlemen are not always what they are dressed up to be....

Fantastic series
If you love historically based mysteries , then this series is for you. In each book I learn another little piece of history that in never knew, and of course I then have to read up on.
I am almost finished the current audio books, so I looking forward to more of Sulari Gentle’s work. I hope to be reading of Roland Sinclair’s adventurous in WWII.

Salvation army, Mannequins, and Rowly's broken arm
Degas gives another superb reading. While the plot hinges on some unpleasantly bizarre actions, the thumb nail portraits of HG Wells, Churchill and Edna Bruce are delightful , and the depiction of the people & conditions of the poorer parts of London moving,. Once again, there is emotional depth in the novel. I'm getting worried at the beatings Rowly is taking! As ever the series sets the bonds of friendship, loyalty and commitment to freedom in counterpoint to the rise of fascism. One feels in very good company in terrible times

Gentill spins another web of intrigue!
An enthralling continuation of Rolly's life in a breathtaking backdrop of the 1930s. Another excellent novel brought to life through audio.
