Det tog ham et helt år at komme på ret køl igen, og det skyldtes ikke mindst, at han stod helt uforstående over for det, han havde oplevet: Han havde ingen erfaringer med psykisk sygdom, og lige så lidt vidste han, hvor han skulle søge professionel hjælp. Det betød, at han ikke fik den i tide, og at sygdommen fik lov til at udvikle sig til en regulær depression, der var ved at tage livet af ham.
