About this listen
Experience Star Wars: A New Hope from a whole new point of view.
On May 25, 1977, the world was introduced to Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and a galaxy full of possibilities. In honor of the 40th anniversary, more than 40 contributors lend their vision to this retelling of Star Wars. Each of the 40 short stories reimagines a moment from the original film, but through the eyes of a supporting character. From a Certain Point of View features contributions by best-selling authors, trendsetting artists, and treasured voices from the literary history of Star Wars:
- Gary Whitta bridges the gap from Rogue One to A New Hope through the eyes of Captain Antilles.
- Aunt Beru finds her voice in an intimate character study by Meg Cabot.
- Nnedi Okorofor brings dignity and depth to a most unlikely character: the monster in the trash compactor.
- Pablo Hidalgo provides a chilling glimpse inside the mind of Grand Moff Tarkin.
- Pierce Brown chronicles Biggs Darklighter's final flight during the Rebellion's harrowing attack on the Death Star.
- Wil Wheaton spins a poignant tale of the rebels left behind on Yavin.
Plus 34 more hilarious, heartbreaking, and astonishing tales from Ben Acker, Renée Ahdieh, Tom Angleberger, Ben Blacker, Jeffrey Brown, Rae Carson, Adam Christopher, Zoraida Córdova, Delilah S. Dawson, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Paul Dini, Ian Doescher, Ashley Eckstein, Matt Fraction, Alexander Freed, Jason Fry, Kieron Gillen, Christie Golden, Claudia Gray, E. K. Johnston, Paul S. the stories and performances.
I think, although varying in quality, overall this is a fundamental anthology series, it tells the story of a new hope in such a diverse and interesting way that I can't help but want to watch it again, picking out every character I now understand more deeply, and the performances of the cast are nothing short of fantastic, Marc Thompson obviously stealing the limelite with his sheer range and dedication to character acting, but the more famous cast absolutely nail their roles, the timing, inflection and just roleplay here are absolutely worth it. 5 stars on all fronts, even if absolutely every single story didn't thrill me, I enjoyed every minute and am extremely excited about the next two in the series.

May the Force be with you!
An interesting take on the New Hope's story line from all the bit-part characters you recognise from the movie, even if some of them are on screen for only a minute or 2. I was surprised that Hammerhead didn't get his own story, he did get a figurine in the 70's, after all. An entertaining read for any Star Wars fan.

Great premise, quality sporadic
This is a really clever idea, and for the most part it's fun, but far out, do we need the same part of the move from four different perspectives? I was waiting for Cantina scene to be send from the perspective of a fly buzzing around by the end. Anyway, that's just a small gripe. Some of these are good, some of these are okay, some of these are just boring. The performances are just okay, with the odd one being good. Fun if you want a bit of Star Wars, but honestly I won't continue with the rest in the series.

the different points of view.
I liked the eel in the garage compacter. I need to listen again as I always miss lots of details.

Pretty bad overall
Couple good stories but majority were terrible. Established characters are completely changed for no good reason. A lot of stories were simply boring and added nothing good to the Star Wars universe. Performances were good throughout though.
