About this listen
Pain punished her.
The bottle numbed her.
Guilt kept her trapped.
In the dark alley of a pub, the words "Please don't" take hold of her heart and break the silence she seeks. Thinking herself beyond redemption, she tentatively grabs on to the slim thread of hope that unfolds inside of her. Holding her secrets close, she can't resist the comforting draw coming from The Skipper. The unconditional friendships it offers, the protective roof it provides, and the spark that its owner ignites in her - melting the frost off her heart, and slowly stripping away her resistance.
His life flows from one crisis to the next. Under the pressure of competition crowding him out of his family's pub and the need to protect his children from the ruins of a bad marriage, he barely breathes. That is until a mane of strawberry-blonde hair and a set of big, pale blue eyes, shake him up.
He never expected the shadow of a woman he finds on the floor of his washroom to bring him the air - the balance and the light he's been missing.
Due to content of a sexually explicit nature, this book is recommended for a mature audience only.

rounds off nicely
the dust cover sounds more intense than it turned out to be.
the h's tortured life makes for a sad start but Freya keeps it moving by leaving out the push pull angst of her trying to look for hope. the pace moves as the plot goes forward. just when you start to settle and the story slows, something else pops up.
lots of adversaries and old haunts as well as new problems are thrown into the chaos as the H and h, with the side characters, try to get on with daily life. this turned into a heart-warming family HEA with redemption and fell good ideals. and to top it off, for the grown ups...steam...and it gets more as the relationship grows. (obviously)
every problem that rears up Is eventually confronted and solved which is what I mean by 'rounding off nicely'
I enjoyed the alpha man with a soft side and viv is awesome.
I didn't know there were kids involved and I wasn't expecting it so kind of threw me a bit..though it was going yo get grittier. but once in I wanted to keep listening.
the narrator's did a good job. haven't heard them before but both voices did well, the male/female tones were good and the tone and inflections worked well.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
