About this listen
In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris and horror.
Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool) delivers a haunting performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel.

Beautiful
This is the second version of Frankenstein I have listened to, having enjoyed the other version immensely. The story is very complex and heavy, so requires considerable concentration. The second listen, this time with Jamie as narrator was well worth it to help cement the intricacies of each character and their journey towards the climactic ending.
Mary Shelley's writing has an almost Shakespearean feel and her commentary about human nature is superb. Jamie's narration gives life to the characters with a compelling range of raw emotions.

A tragedy in which one guy is no longer dead.
Always loved this story, always loved Jamie Bell, and his unique voice and skills brings out the misery and vulnerability and rage in the poor monster, and the disgust and sorrow in Frankenstein. Go into this story ready for a slow burn tragedy about relationships, not a horror, and bathe in the glory of Jamie Bell's divine acting and Mary Shelley's love of the Swiss countryside.

My new favourite classic
Jamie Bell articulated this so well, it was easy to understand and listen to. Beautiful prose and I was astonished at how heartfelt and human this story actually is. I encourage everyone to give it a listen!

Boring
Boring. Don’t waste your time. I cannot believe the hype on this book. Maybe it was the narration but it was unbearable. What a terrible ending as well
