About this listen

The scowl should’ve been my first clue to stay far away from Anson Hunt. The sexy smirk and the fact that he’s my brother’s best friend? Reasons two and three. Not to mention, he’s the new contractor working on my house.

He’s everything I’m not: grumpy, rude, and more than a little attached to his solitude. It doesn’t matter how many times I try to kill him with kindness; the man simply won’t crack. Until he sees me shatter. Because when my world comes crashing down around me, Anson is the one catching me as I fall. And as so-called accidents start plaguing every part of my life, it’s Anson who steps in to keep me safe.

As he does, I can’t help but feel a flicker of heat. And it only takes a single moment for that spark to ignite into flames, engulfing us both. But Anson’s a man with secrets, and they have a price. When they’re revealed, neither of us will make it out unscathed…

The narrators did an amazing job. The story was so damn good as ALWAYS. Cathrine is an auto buy author for me. The perfect blend of small town, sweet, touch of spice and mystery/suspense. LOVE!

Different kind of romance book

The mystery was quite a strong theme in this book, not just a side story. I still felt the connection between the characters, even though there were less intimate scenes. And the narration was perfect from both males and female.

Love is a new beginning

What a great start to a series.

There were so many twists and turns where I thought I knew who it was, and then I didn't.

Anson was so tortured, but it was great to see him heal with Rho. Rho was so strong and determined to live every day to the fullest.

Their relationship was so warm and comforting with just the right amount of spice.

I can't wait to read the stories for the rest of Rho's siblings

I read on Kindle and read along on Audible with good audio.

More of a mystery/suspense than romance

I enjoyed this book, however, I felt it was marketed as a romance but it's more a mystery and suspense book. It's sad, heartbreaking and tense at times. There's a lot going on and lots of characters as it's the first book in a new series. I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I was expecting. I also feel there should have been trigger warnings at the beginning.

All my favourites :)

A Catherine Cowles book read by 2 of my favourite narrators, it's a match made in heaven ♡ A thoroughly entertaining read/listen, add in suspense and spice, and it's great start to another Cowles series, Am looking forward to the next book.

Catherine is a star

Where do I start??

Storyline: Catherine yet again has created a storyline with true substance, heart ache, romance, suspense, funny, and an almighty ending I did not see coming.

Characters: I can’t wait to see where this series takes us. We have a FMC and MMC that I fell in love with, and these side characters that I can’t wait to hear their stories. Out of all characters I fell in love with Grandmother Lollie.

Narrators: My 2 most favourite narrators of all time, Zachary really brought Anson to life.

Last of all - Lollies one liners, art, offering of ‘support and food’ that woman is hilarious. We all need a Lillie in our lives.

Highly recommend Ansen and Ro

This was another beautifully written book by Catherine Cowles and a wonderful start to a new series. The twists and turns had me going the whole way, trying to guess who the villain was and literally screaming when it was revealed. Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber are wonderful narrators and create something special by narrating this book.
