Great storytelling
Beautifully written with great characters. Also beautifully read with the Irish accent. Too short. Would have made a great novel.

Simply beautiful
I was completely drawn into this story. Wonderful storytelling from both author and narrator. I am rarely compelled to leave a review and wholeheartedly recommended this book.

Unbelievable understanding of love and loss
Impossible to believe such a story of love and loss can be told so utterly completely in such a short sorry. It will stay with me as much as the reading of the story and the film

dear little story
Aoife McMahon was again a good choice for narrating this brief and much loved time in a young girl's life when she is sent away for foster care with an elderly couple. Her poorly-off family are unable financially or emotionally to provide for their ever-growing brood of children and with another baby due imminently fostering a daughter out was the path they took to help them, one where the girl finds rare and genuine care before returning home.

Simple and touching story
The story is simple and captures a moment in time in rural Ireland. Wonderful to listen to before or after seeing the movie adaptation “An Cailín Ciúin”.

Snippets of perfection
This is the second Claire Keegan short story I’ve listened to. How she manages to tell such stories with so few words, I have no idea. But she does. A true wordsmith.

Moving and beautiful.
This short story is beautifully told from the perspective of a child experiencing unconditional love for the first time.
The movie is a must see if you get the opportunity!
