About this listen
You don’t fall for your brother’s high school sweetheart, your boss’ daughter, or your ex-wife’s best friend. Especially when they’re all the same woman.
Under Brick Callan’s mile-wide chest beats a loyal heart with a few cracks in it. He’s the steadfast, overprotective type. Especially when it comes to the one woman he can never have.
It’s a long, complicated history punctuated by fights, friendship, family, and an attraction that strains his iron willpower. When Remi Ford returns to Mackinac Island in the dead of winter with a secret, Brick makes it his mission to find out what put the shadows in those green eyes. Even if it means breaking down the walls he’s built between them. Even if it means falling for the one girl he’ll never get over.
The free-spirited artist just needs to lay low for a few weeks so she can figure a way out of this nightmare. She’s definitely not staying. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents’ dinner table. Remi doesn’t need broody, bearded Brick riding to her rescue...again. Not when it will put them both in danger, costing them much more than their hearts.
Author’s note: Frenemies-to-lovers. Opposites attract. Slow burn. Girl in danger. Glorious, glorious banter. Fighting as foreplay. Small-town shenanigans. Big, grumpy, pining, overprotective hero. Wild-child, trouble-finding heroine who keeps on pushing the hero’s buttons. Steam level: Lava. Suspense: Nail-biting. Feels: Big time.

always enjoy a score novel
Riley Thorne is still my favourite Score novel to date but this one is good too. A lot more 'steamy' than RT and A LOT of dialogue about bodily fluids-not necessarily a criticism. I would have loved it if the novel unpacked Brick's parent issues further to build credibility around his resistance to Remie, it didn't feel plausible at times given the character's combined history. Loved the world of the island and the playfulness/contrasting characters. Always enjoy a Score novel.

Frustratingly longwinded
I usually love Lucy Score stories. This one was basically nice but frustratingly longwinded. I did not like the way the narrator read the female voices especially Remi, the lead character’s voice. I almost gave up a few times.

fantastic
Lucy Score is marvel, this book is scorching hot, beautifully tender, laugh out loud funny, and an all round fantastic story. Remi and. Brick's on off love hate relationship is very entertaining and the supporting cast is fun and full of quirky characters and small town gossip. well worth reading again and again

🌶 too spicy? 🌶
daily deal book- never read this author previously.
the storyline is entertaining, the characters are likeable and there are heart felt moments and laugh out loud sections. my only gripe is that there is a LOT of *cough* adult moments. I don't mind some spice in a novel but this was some super human level spice, that mostly didn't add anything to the advancement of the plot/character arc, and was often distracting because I kept wondering about physics, anatomy and the general health of those participating in the Olympic level activities.

Didn’t love it
It was Lucy Scores best book by any means. I’ve read four other ones and found this really lacked complexity and the sex was too dominating for me.

Not for adults
Storyless nonsense. The most bored I have ever been for the 2 hours I struggled to listen, I could not finish as there was no story.
