About this listen
The first daughter is for the throne. The second daughter is for the wolf.
As the only Second Daughter born in centuries, Red has one purpose - to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in order to save her kingdom.
Red is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can't control, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood, she can't hurt those she loves. Again.
But the legends lie. The Wolf is a man, not a monster. Her magic is a calling, not a curse. And if she doesn't learn how to use it, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood - and her world - will be lost forever.
Hannah Whitten's New York Times best-selling debut is a sweeping tale of love, legends and the secrets that hide beyond the trees.

Gorgeous gothic fairytale
Great characters, fast-paced plot, and a beautiful fantasy setting. The only downside was that the magic system seemed a bit inconsistent, but overall I still loved it!!

little red gets the wolf 🐺
I like me a good fairy tale retelling and Red riding hood is my all time faves. This was good!
con: slow at times and the sister Neve, well meaning, slightly unhinged sister Neve is really.... well... I'm not as keen for her story
I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but I was all here for Red and Wolf in the wilderwoods but Neve isn't making me run to the second book in the duology. I will read it... just yeah...
• beautifully written
• well narrated
• interesting concept
• forced proximity
• fake relationship <kinda>
• YA so fade to black <no spice>
• banter, tension filled romance

Addictive and imaginative
Loved this story and look forward to the next installment - it was easy to listen to and hard to stop. Really enjoyed the depiction of the wilderwood, a very original take on a forest. Plot maybe didnt have as much depth or intricacy as some stories, but worth a listen if you want a nice easy story.

Not what I expected
From the cover I thought I was in for a rehash of a a fairytale - but not so.
I became engrossed in the story and the characters.
The twin sisters had very different ideas of the truth of the story due to their futures.
History became myth and legend, mangled by religion.
Just enough magic and mayhem…
I will be looking forward to the next book.
