Rally enjoyable!

Definitely worth a listen, the writing is a little repetitive with its characterisation.

Didn't stop it from listening to the entire thing in a single sitting on a long flight.

A truly grand beginning

The beginning of my favourite Warhammer saga apart from Dan Adnett's Gaunts Ghosts series. A good laugh, believable characters and world building. Recommended for any interested in character driven or first person narrative

Clearly the beginning of a great series

I loved almost the entirety of this book from beginning to end. Just being able to witness an Imperial character that isn't a noble and honourable soldier (or Astartes for that matter) was extremely refreshing to listen to.

Simply Great

The Mat Cauthon (Wheel of Time) of the Warhammer 40k universe. Witty, relatable, with the Emperor's own bloody luck for getting out of trouble and an accompanying habit for finding himself in the bloody middle of it. "Bloody" is used here as an expletive and a descriptive. Sandy Mitchell - brilliant writing I look forward to listening to the next.

Voice acting is great, both male (Stephen Perring) and female (Penelope Rawlins and Emma Gregory) compliment the content greatly. My particular favourite is the voice used for Jurgen, certainly fits and delivers for the character an enduring and endearing quality.

An absolute must read

My favourite warhammer series by far. Recommend this to anyone especially those new to the warhammer universe. Ciaphus Cain is a hilarious character who I find very relatable too. This series reminds me of when I read Catch-22 when I was younger. Love it.

One of the best books in the Black Library

Ive generally avoided human based novels in the 40k universe. The Grimdark Bolter porn never really appealed, but id heard Ciaphas was a little more light hearted. Its the perfect balance of adventure and fun. Ciaphas is suprisingly identifiable and the other characters are unique and interesting. I cant picture Jurgan as anyone but Baldrick. The VA is great, each voice helped solidify an image of each character. Cant recommend this book enough.
