About this listen

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is Chicago's only openly practicing wizard. He is also dead broke. His vast knowledge and magical skills are unfortunately matched by his talent for making powerful enemies and alienating friends. With little more than his integrity left, he accepts an offer of work from Lt. Karin Murphy of Chicago's Special Investigations Unit. He wants to redeem himself in Murphy's eyes and make enough money to quiet his rumbling stomach.

Soon he finds himself pinned between trigger-happy FBI agents, shape-shifiting motorcycle gang members, a threatened mobster boss, and an heir to an ancient curse along with his primal fiance. Throw in environmental activists and a pair of young werewolves in love and you have something of Fool Moon.

Fool on pedal to the medal

Back again, I see you are looking into the second book in the series. I trust you enjoyed the first one. In this part of Dresden story Chicago is being gripped by a series of brutal murders. There a tiny little hints along the way that indicate it's not human and so Dresden seems to be the best person to help the police look into it. This book seems to set the stage for dresden's evolving path. his moral choices become more front and centre and you can see the characters starting to become connected. This is the 4th or 5th time I've read this book, each time I come back after a few years when Butcher has released some more books in the series so I start from the beginning again, it had been long enough I don't remember much about the plot but what struck me was when I would hear a characters being introduced my eyes would prick with emotion as I remembered something from later in the series. Made me realize Butcher really is very good at crafting characters that you will learn to love. I can't wait for you to finish this book and get to the next one. it's important that you don't skip this one for more action because it really is important in the grand scheme of things, but the next book is better, so I hope you hurry on and read this.

Loving the reader and series

These darker books are fantastic and I really like the way you think it's all going to hell, and then it does.

Well written and the performance really brings you into believing it's Harry reading to you.

Great performance and a gripping story.

background noises are distracting

You can often hear the narrator shuffle in his chair, occasionally snort, and other random little noises, which can be distraction.

Otherwise, well told

audio quality not 100%

towards the end it sounded like there was in the people talking in the background. also James Masters often sounded like his mouth was dry when swallowing. I'm sure I've listened to this before with better sound quality but perhaps I'm judging against other narrators I've listened to more recently.
