Den foregik kort før jul i 1949. Jeg, Niels Ole Frederiksen, er født og opvokset i Horsens Statsfængsel, min far var dengang viceinspektør og blev senere inspektør ved fængslet. Jeg var, da flugten fandt sted, kun tre år. Men efterfølgende har historien været en af de fortællinger, der blev fortalt igen og igen af min far.
