About this listen
A brand-new romantic comedy from New York Times best seller Tessa Bailey!
Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints, and they haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a woman of the world...whatever that means.
Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (FYI, leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)
Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite?
Travis Ford was Major League Baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now, he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his...bat. And then there's Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme - that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job - he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real.
But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman, and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her....

the voice of an angel, starring a clown.
I could listen to Charlotte North reading the dictionary!
And why is it whenever I got in my car, a sex scene started? can't roll down the windows; and paying attention to the road in some instances was... uh, fun.
I have read this plot before and seen the characters as well. I think the most unique thing is the female protagonist is a freaking clown 🤡! (which are scary irl by the way all!)

Literally didn’t want it to end!
I absolutely adored this book! The characters, the character development, the humour, the angst, the spice! Really enjoyable read. My only wish is that there was an epilogue!!!!
Charlotte North’s performance was amazing!

Icky pet name ruins the story.
Pretty full on dirty talk combined with a questionable pet name ‘baby girl’ just kinda ruined it for me.

Wow!
Loved the whole storyline! 10/10 read, if you are a sucker for a bit of romance with a bit of sexiness.

Pretty Good In My Opinion
A pretty easy listen. Relatively fast paced. A sweet and lovely storyline.
This was my second Tessa Bailey read, after It Happened One Summer which is the standard by which I will measure every book against – I physically read that book, not listened to it.
Fix Her Up was the perfect definition of a rom-com and exactly what I needed to fulfil the need for a sweet, enjoyable comfort read.
There are a lot of negative comments, and I honestly don’t think they are called for. It was a classic rom-com with a little character development, a fair chuck of spice (which I didn’t see coming), and a happy ending. What more can you honestly ask for!

This book is just awful
I absolutely hated this book! it was so awful I couldn't even finish listening to it, a complete waste of money.
Throughout the book the main character whined that no one was treating her like a grownup and yet allowed her love interest to call her "baby girl" which is plain creepy under any circumstances, but he even does it during sex, so so gross!!! If that were me I would be worried I was in bed with a pedophile.
I found this book to be a total cringe fest and would highly recommend you stay away from it. I gave it one star, I was being generous.

Sorry usually love Tessa Bailey but the “baby girl” to an adult women (especially during sex scenes) made me vomit in my mouth 🤢 cringed all the way could’ve been great but missed the mark.
