About this listen
"HIS NAME WAS RAMBO AND HE WAS JUST SOME NOTHING KID FOR ALL ANYBODY KNEW."
The award-winning novel that inspired the legendary film series starring Sylvester Stallone.
First came the man: a young wanderer in a fatigue coat and long hair. Then came the legend, as John Rambo sprang from the pages of FIRST BLOOD to take his place in the American cultural landscape. This remarkable novel pits a young Vietnam veteran against a small-town cop who doesn't know whom he's dealing with - or how far Rambo will take him into a life-and-death struggle through the woods, hills, and caves of rural Kentucky.
Millions have seen the Rambo movies, but those who haven't read the book are in for a surprise - a critically acclaimed story of character, action, and compassion.

Great story
This is a very different story than the film, and I think it is vastly superior. The narrator handled the story perfectly

Thank you Jack Carr and David Morrell!
After watching Jack Carr on Cleared Hot discussing First Blood I decided to get the Audiobook of First Blood. So glad I did. The story has done justice to Rambo in a way the film could not.

Better Than The Movie!!!
I’d never read (or listened to) First Blood before, only seen the movie. I already knew some of the differences between the book and the movie (including the ending) but I was interested to hear the full original story.
This particular edition includes an introduction by the author about how the idea for First Blood came to him, and the series of events following its publication. WARNING: If this is your first time hearing First Blood and don’t already know the novel ending, skip the introduction and skip straight to Chapter 2 where the actual story begins.

Emotional.
I’ve always liked the film. In fact, it is my all time favourite movie. I had never read the book and after hearing the audio version I will be getting a hard copy. PTSD is real. How do we fix our broken warriors?

Kazablanka's review
Disappointing. The story is well-told, but I couldn't quite see the point of it. There was no mystery to be solved, no real adventure, no interesting insights offered- just two guys going at each other, with an ever increasing body-count. It was hard to feel empathy for either guy - and, given that the end was given away in the first chapter, it was hard to maintain interest. I guess it was intended to expore themes, like PTSD or the plight of war veterans, which is commendable, but ultimately a story I just couldn't get into.

Almost didn’t bother finishing it
I was put into this by Jack Carr - unfortunately disappointing and not a a patch on Carr’s writing.
