About this listen
Since the 1950s, the United States explored psychic research, hoping to use extrasensory perception for spy operations. Codenamed "Stargate," this program was unreliable. Utilizing the critical period hypothesis, the PRODIGY Program was created to develop psychic abilities in young children. Budget cuts in the mid-1990s forced the dismantling of government programs, including PRODIGY. Children remaining in the program were distributed to foster homes throughout the United States. This is the story of one of these children.
Book 1: Finding Hope
If you think being a teenager is tough, try doing it as a psychic. When Hope Johnson lands at Ms. Broombeck's door, she expects nothing to be different. After nine years in the foster system and nearly twice as many moves, she knows the drill—remain solitary, nose buried in a book, and try to ignore the ghosts and the voices. With the help of the eccentric woman from down the hall, Hope begins to sharpen psychic abilities and takes her first steps towards learning the truth about her past and confronting the shadowy organization that seeks to find and control her. Her childhood as a foster kid was anything but special, but it doesn't take a psychic to see that the future is going to be a lot more interesting.
