great bones but lead character bores

my daughter and I were excited yet we found our selves frustrated by the lead characters boring overly depressed internal dialogue. It really exhausted the experience, so many cool and characters and thing going on yet we were stuck in the lead characters anxious, lame thoughts. we literally wanted her to go jump off a cliff in the end...hahaha pity book had so much potential
