According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday in fact. Just after Any Answers on Radio 4….
Events have been set in motion to bring about the End of Days. The armies of Good and Evil are gathering and making their way towards the sleepy English village of Lower Tadfield. The Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse - War, Famine, Pollution and Death - are assembling. Witchfinder Shadwell and his assistant Newton Pulsifier are also en route to Tadfield to investigate unusual phenomena in the area, while Anathema Device, descendent of prophetess Agnes Nutter, tries to decipher her ancestor’s cryptic predictions.
Atlantis is rising; fish are falling from the sky; everything seems to be going to the Divine Plan. Everything, that is, but for an unlikely angel and demon duo, who have been living on Earth for several millennia and have become rather fond of the place. If they are to prevent Armageddon they’ve got to find and kill the one who will bring it about: the Antichrist himself. There’s just one small problem: someone seems to have mislaid him…
Adapted, sound designed and co-directed by Dirk Maggs (Neverwhere, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) this first ever dramatisation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s novel features a large cast including Peter Serafinowicz, Mark Heap, Josie Lawrence and Paterson Joseph.

Terrific adaptation
Coming to this as fans of the book since its first release, we found this full cast radio play to be an excellent adaptation. I believe they kept a good balance between explainations for new listeners and Easter eggs for existing fans who will enjoy a nod to bits from the book.
They sourced a high-end cast and also include a lovely cameo of Neil and Terry in the first episode.
Some scenes were lost to tighten up the story, but I didn't miss them. Other changes include updating references to their modern equivalent (the original is 25 years old), and moving footnote material into conversations (this mostly worked well).
My only wish for improving this would be to add about 6 hours more, the reading by Stephen Briggs runs to over 10 hours.

Brilliant!
Dark, witty and ironic, ‘Good Omens’ is a brilliant read. This should come as no surprise, given that its authors are both creative geniuses.
The audiobook is brilliant. The casting is fabulous and the performances are outstanding, making this an excellent listening experience which is entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time.
’Good Omens’ ticks all the boxes for the perfect dark comic fantasy.

Best radio play
I used to borrow this audiobook from the library. After 20 times borrowing, i ended up buying it. Yes i know it off by heart, but it is enjoyable everytime. Great storyline. Great cast and crew. Funny as! Just brilliant!
