About this listen
This wonderfully perceptive new audiobook is about the lines we'll cross for love. It's about the murky areas between right and wrong, and the complexities of modern relationships.
The Hypnotist's Love Story is about the mild craziness that lurks behind the facades we present to the world, especially when it comes to love.
Ellen O'Farrell is an expert when it comes to human frailties. She's a hypnotherapist who helps her clients deal with everything from addictions to life-long phobias. So when she falls in love with a man who is being stalked by his ex-girlfriend she's more intrigued than frightened. What makes a supposedly smart, professional woman behave this way? She'd love to meet her!
What she doesn't know is that she already has. Saskia has been masquerading as a client, and their lives are set to collide in ways Ellen could never have predicted.

Interesting, quaint, very Sydney
What did you like most about The Hypnotist's Love Story?
The obsessive nature of both women was well portrayed and the stalker woman was by at the more interesting to me; a tad therapeutic but a good mid-range read. It explores relationship development well if not a bit clichéd with the husband-to-be's family. A thoroughly decent and curious novel.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have had a Stronger development of the male character, to show how emotionally illiterate he was, but earlier... Perhaps showing his rigidity through his work a little more.
Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Yes; her beautiful Australian voice is excellent in this and the Secret garden Revisted one.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Trance your way out of this one
Any additional comments?
A really good Australian story.

Quality soap opera
I had never read or heard an example of so-called chick lit before and did not think I would last the distance, but this got me in and I enjoyed it. I am a rather conservative male reader of 72, by the way.

I was hypnotised by this book!!!
Once again Liane Moriaty got me hook line and sinker. Love her writing and even better that I hear the book rather than rushing through trying to get to the end . Great way to listen to her intricate details and wisdoms.

Hypnotic.
This story was told exceptionally well. I Love Lee's voice so luscious and crisp, and delicately produces her characters. The story was easy and did keep me hooked for a long time... This was because I felt that the plot twist was definitely around the corner. But it didn't come. Perhaps the biggest suprise was how insane someone seemed, but how sane they really were.

My favourite Moriarty so far!
I'm so in love with Lee's narration and this in my.view is the most substantive of Moriarty's books that I've read so far. The storyline was easy to believe, interesting and I even learnt a few things along the way. Lee's management of character emotions was flawless. A shame it ended. Love Love love.

Intriguing
I loved this book! The world of hypnotherapy was an interesting topic to be exploring alongside a romance and life complications. I’m now fascinated and want to explore this more deeply.
One note though, could someone please tell the narrator that ‘car-ton’ is not how we Australians pronounce ‘carton’ in ‘carton of milk’ etc, it’s ‘car-ten’. Drives me crazy every time she says it!
