About this listen
This isn't another "I hate you because I secretly love you" story. Boy really does hate girl. And this isn't just a forbidden love story. This is obsession at its darkest.
I don't believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming.
I believe in fear.
He taught me how to be afraid.
We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn't be the last. For 10 years, he's been my tormentor and I've been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.
Now, he's back, and wants more than just my tears. You see...he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge...and he knows just how to get it.

It was ok
I love dark romance and overbearing alphas, but this wasn’t for me. If I could leave a book unfinished I would have. Guess I had hope. Performance was good.

Lacking everything…
This story & the writing had the ability to be something great but it just never quite makes it. Lots of repetition of scenes that make it quite boring. The two main male characters names were too similar & confusing & although the three female characters had unique personality traits that were displayed well they lack in their own storyline’s.. again they could’ve really shined if more thought had gone into them. Disappointing ending really doesn’t give the cliff hanger it attempts & doesn’t leave you wanting to continue with the series. However, the narration is good just as expected.

AMAZING!
This audiobook was amazing! I loved both the narration and the well-written story. This book makes sure that you are never bored and really makes sure that you are left with no choice but to want to read the next book. I am so looking forward to reading the next book and listening to the added perspective of Keiran through the narration of Teddy Hamilton. Both Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson are definitely on my list of favourite narrators and I'm so glad that I get to listen to them in this series. Obviously, this is a dark romance novel and can be a bit triggering for some readers, but if this is not you and you think you might like it, then I would definitely recommend this book to you, especially as an audiobook. I hope you love this book as much as I do! Enjoy!

This story was captivating, the similar names made it hard at first to follow but then wow. Great read.

I hate to love this book!
** Possible spoilers .... Detailed review **
Ok so I have been tossing up wether or not I wanted to read this series for ages because the reviews were so contradictory. I wasn’t sure I could handle the dark content that was described in the bad reviews. BUT I’m so glad I buckled and give it a go. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely didn’t love the forceful way Keiren was with Lake especially through out the first 7 hours of the book. But there was so many little things he did that gave you an insight into how he really felt about her & cared for her in his own way that sort of countered his bad behaviour towards her. He knew that she wanted him just as much as he wanted her even though she was resisting him & fighting the way her body reacted to him because she was scared of him. I feel as though he wouldn’t have been so forceful with her if he didn’t know she wanted him as well. And she did, but it was definitely dubious ‘consent’ & originally caused by manipulation on his behalf. He is also over the top protective and excessively controlling. But Lake craves his touch & attention even though it makes her feel guilty because she’s scared of him. It’s really not a healthy relationship. He’s definitely all sorts of screwed up and towards the end you get insight into why he treated her the way he did. I hate that even though he was so horrible I couldn’t help but see the softer side of him that he tried so hard to hide. I also couldn’t help but feel sorry for him at times. It’s definitely a confronting read with lots of triggers so just be prepared. After the first 7 hours their ‘relationship’ changes to something that almost resembles normal and Lake really starts to use her voice because she’s not scared of him anymore. There was plenty of curve balls and the story kept me super enthralled. Definitely not a boring read. On a positive I really liked how the relationships of the other characters developed and some of the banter/interactions had me laughing often. Looking forward to hearing from Keiren’s POV in the next book ‘Fear You’.

A New Favourite.
The amount of sexiness and sexual tension was perfect. The right amount of bullying too. Sometimes I got too bored with the sweetness and the storyline itself. Is that wrong? During chapter 15 or 16 I'm sure I heard the narrator saying *Karen or *Kerrin instead of Kearan during what I think was a Conversation between Keenan & Kearan.

I feel bad giving anyone a one star review but...
I have got 20 mins left and I am still waiting to be enthralled into the story or the characters. I read the reviews beforehand, they were mixed, but the consensus was that after 7 hours in, you will be completely hooked. I am not.
For starters, the relationship between the main characters is borderline psychotic. I can handle problematic characters and am not necessarily put off by a troubled and tortured soul. I have read other books which contain relationships with dubious consent and some degree of coercion and bullying in the beginning but they have been able to level the playing field and develop the relationship to a degree that at least resembles some kind of progression into more healthy territory.
This book just screams Stockholm syndrome and there's just nothing sexy about it. Its just off-putting. I found myself cringing and alarmed at pretty much all of their encounters. I can't find a single moment in this story where I had any kind of emotional investment in their relationship. It honestly reads more like a child abuse autobiography than a love story. Even the title of the series, broken love indicates some kind of love between them but I just can't fathom how she could truly feel love given everything that has happened to her at the hands of Kieran. Its just unhealthy and wrong.
I found the age of the characters very concerning. As high school students, i can't help but feel this book is aimed at an audience of the same age or maybe slightly older. Its alarming that this is held up as an example of a love story when it really is a horror story and relationships of this kind should not be portrayed as even slightly romantic.
I mean, he repeatedly abuses her. Threatens her life. Threatens the lives of her family and friends. Even in the absence of physically restraining her (which he did) or the lack of overt verbal protests, this kind of coercion is not consent.
I dont know guys, I really have an open mind and am not easily offended but I just struggle to see how this book has appealed to anyone.
But thats just my two cents.
FWIW, the narrator did a fine job and I dont have anything negative to say about the authors writing technique, its just the content which was really lacking any kind of development, depth or redemption.
Sorry, but its a hard pass for me.

omg what a story
I finished the book but was frustrated with Lakes stupidity, she had a chance to be free but decided on revenge something we all know was never going to happen. Kieran is horrible character he deserves all that comes to him. His behaviour borders on rape, abuse and psychotic.
