About this listen
“Once he met her, it was and always would be Lyla.”
They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break.
And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll.
Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the '80s and '90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history - dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze - the Roadmasters had one touchstone.
Lyla.
Preacher’s muse, the love of his life, and the band’s moral compass, from the beginning, Lyla is along for the ride.
But with fame and acclaim in their grasp, they’ve entered the fast lane.
And they didn’t know it, but they were headed for a crash.

story was ok. awkward style
I started this story about 3 times in both print and audio format. I eventually finished the audio format. The story was quite good in the end but I found the "interview" style that it was written in very cumbersome and affected the flow badly

Great story but...
While I liked the story line I found the interview style used to tell it detracted from the characters and I did not feel the usual connection. I found it pulled you out of the story too much, especially when the character telling the story changed. Saying that, Kristen Ashley's wonderful writing style did shine through and overall I enjoyed it. Will I listen to this one again as I have with most of Kristen's other books, probably not. I have still given this one 4 stars as it was well written and interesting but I did not connect with the characters as well as I usually do in Kristen's books. Other people may enjoy it, so I would definitely urge you to make your own choice.

The interview style put me off
I love Kristen Ashley. I love her writing style and sense of humour. This book, I did not like. The interview style of the story was off putting and not engaging at all. The narrators were excellent; however, I had trouble paying attention to the story and would tune out without realising it. Please Kristen, drop this writing style and go back to what works.
