About this listen

Meet Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timothy. Together they are The Famous Five.

'There was something else out on the sea by the rocks - something dark that seemed to lurch out of the waves...What could it be?'

Julian, Dick and Anne are spending the holidays with their tomboy cousin George and her dog, Timothy. One day, George takes them to explore nearby Kirrin Island, with its rocky little coast and old ruined castle on the top.

Over on the island, they make a thrilling discovery, which leads them deep into the dungeons of Kirrin Castle on a dangerous adventure. Who - and what - will they find there?

REPORT!!!! ( I just couldn’t think of a better short title so that is that )

Loved it. I have one problem though. How come it says that Timothy is black and white, but in all the drawings on the front of the different books, he is a super yellowish-orange golden retriever?

Oh well

Good Old Enid Blyton

Listening with the grandkids and they are loving it as much as I did 50 years ago.
My childhood hero, George is still just as inspiring as I remember.
I was curious whether it would seem intolerably sexist like the faraway tree stores do now but this seems to allow gender equality in the characters.
Mild criticism of the narater, that the little kids voices can be screechy and annoying.

Fantastic Story

I set out looking for a book my children aged 4, 9 and almost 11 could listen to in the car from school each day to enjoy. I used to love books by Enid Blyton as a child, however I did not come across the Famous Five until now. I really enjoyed this book myself and my kids absolutely loved it and couldn’t wait each day to find out what happened next. It has become a little tradition to instead of turn on the radio, listen to a story instead. Highly recommended and Jan Francis does a brilliant job, her performance is what really made this story shine it’s brightest.
