Familien Tide er en familie med mange hemmeligheder. Dora, familiens yngste, bor i en lejlighed i et faldefærdigt varehus sammen med sin kunstnerkæreste Dan. Hele sit liv har hun skøjtet på overfladen, men da hun bliver gravid vendes hendes verden op og ned, og hun vender hjem til Clifftops, familiens gamle hus ved Dorset kyst, for at konfrontere sin fortid.
