About this listen

“When I kissed you last night, I wasn’t pretending.”

Everly Dalton is a walking, talking, martini-drinking dating disaster. Forget kissing frogs. She can’t even get past the first date. But at work, she’s a badass - the longest-running assistant billionaire Shepherd Calloway has ever had. Her coworkers wonder how she handles the big bad wolf and never gets bit.

Shepherd Calloway isn’t interested in being anyone’s sugar daddy. Tired of women who only want him for his money, he swears off dating, determined to focus on running his empire. Until his gold-digging ex hits him where it hurts, putting him in a difficult position.

His solution to have Everly pose as his live-in girlfriend is obviously crazy, but the timing is uncanny. It just so happens Everly needs a favor from her boss - a big and awkward one - and this could ensure everyone gets what they want.

Besides, Everly can totally survive a few months of faux romance. Except there’s a problem. Shepherd is supposed to be a single-minded, unemotional robot boss. Not an actual human with a heart and morning wood. Between the awkward bed-sharing and tingly fake dates, lines are blurring. And as Everly gets to know the real Shepherd, she discovers there’s more to the man behind the bank account.

And faking it gets all too real...

Faking Ms. Right is a hot, stand-alone romantic comedy.

Great story, although predictable, it was funny and had sweet moments that gave you the feels. The writing and narration were also good.

A fun, sexy read/listen

Faking Ms Right was a fun, sexy read. Of course I had to then one-click the audio version after realising Jason Clarke was one of the narrators. Emma Wilder was great to listen to as well.

Faking Ms. Right was a very fun book to read. Everly's history of first date disasters is hilarious - it was only after finishing this that I realised there is a short prequel available " Everly Dalton's Dating Disasters", so I've one-clicked that now as well.

Everly Dalton may be unlucky in finding love, but she's been very successful at work, with her position as the longest-running assistant to Shepherd Calloway. Shepherd, who Everly likens to an emotionally stunted robot, was an interesting character. Very reserved, and quite cold in his interactions with everyone. The complete opposite to Everly, who becomes besties with basically everyone she meets.

An unexpected situation requires these 2 complete opposites to fake a relationship, and Everly poses as the live in girlfriend. Despite their differences, the chemistry between Everly and Shepherd was hot - this book was hotter than I was expecting!!!! Loved Everly's 2 besties, Nora and Hazel, so was happy to see that the author has plans to write their books as well.

fairly light, hot, 3.5

enjoyable and fairly easily forgotten. no unnecessary drama or angst. Characters largely well developed for storyline, plot good enough to drive the story and create the situation for relationship development and resolution. Narrators good, I just don't really care for the female narrator's tone - annoys a bit with its smoothness I think

Enjoyed the story.

This was an easy listening, if not predictable story line. There was not much angst, so didnt tug on the heart strings. The narration was good. Classic it was only meant as s means to an end, but feelings and love got in the way. A secret is exposed, causing an end to a relationship that was getting more permanent than it was suppose to.

Favourite herione.

Love Everly and Shepard. Everly is one of my favourite heroines. The chemistry between Everly and Shepard is expolsive. It is very satisfying reading or listening. Audio takes this fantastic story just an extra level higher. Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder do a fantastic job bringing these characters to life.

Down & Dirty

Loved it , god I love a grump or emotionally stunted Hero, but Shepherd was a dream. I loved how he had this whole other secret Persona.
When it came to Everley she was just so.. well Everley
No nonsense , practical with that whole hidden dirty girl going in 🤣The Dirty Martini girls are hilarious and I can’t wait to listen or red the rest of the series

Mixed feelings, great narration, needs trigger warning

Firstly the narrators were great. I may have given up at times but hung on for Jason particularly, who is one of my favourites.
As narrated I liked the feelings developed between the main two, and the overall story arc was fine.
HOWEVER... early on one of the most ludicrous plot points I've read was introduced. It was clear what drama that was going to lead to later too. None of that drama was needed as other drama angles could have been introduced.
The ludicrous point was a sister pressuring the heroine to ask her cold grumpy boss to be her sperm donor. Apparently he was the only guy on the planet that suited her requirements. He wasn't on any list of choices but the sister had selected him for some reason without concern for his or her sisters feelings at all.
Not only that she gets a lawyer draw up a formal offer with his name through it without even an indication he wanted it. The heroine doesn't want to yet takes this formal document into the office to be 'accidentally' found later. You've got to be kidding me.
I also think this needed a trigger warning (as someone else commented on.). Sex often drifted to slapping, biting and clawing aimed at producing pain, and having the guy lightly choking her. Apart from this being beyond the usual expectations for a romance of this sort, this easily could be triggering for those who'd been victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. I'm not in that category but I'm aware so many women in the world are and needed a warning.
