About this listen

The story contained in this book is a far cry from what it was intended when it began. The initial hope was that it would be a cobbled-together series of funny experiences a part-time worker experienced at a local Renaissance faire. It became the story of a slow and steady crawl from the depths of depression to a place of acceptance and love. A man, (me) found himself alone and in a state of despair. A phone call, initiated by luck, happenstance, or perhaps providence, led him to an enchanted realm known as the Gaming Glenn.

In that realm, over time, although it seemed as if it all happened within moments, he found himself in the embrace of acceptance the likes of which he had never known. Now that I think about it, things really did happen in moments, they were just more time periods between those moments that I like to think about. This man made friends among people whom he most likely would have never met had it not been for that enchanted patch of ground. He met a woman would become his partner, his companion, and his love. This man, who had once tried to wish himself out of existence and was not capable of looking forward beyond the next hour was now interacting and even mentoring.

He met a young man, whose life circumstances had up until that point prevented him from having very many societal interactions. Through the opportunities presented by the Gaming Glenn and the family contained within, that young man blossomed right alongside the man in our story. Because these two men that met each other grew both exponentially and in ways no one could’ve possibly anticipated.

I titled this book Faire is Fair because I like the play on words, and I thought that it was an eye-catching title. I added the subtitle A Love Story, firstly because when boiled down, it is the story of how I met my wife and found love. However, I hope you realize that the love is not just me finding Michelle. It is all the people that make up the family that is the faire and the love that we share. Because I now truly believe I am an important part of that family.
