About this listen

Jacobs:

For the last three years, I've lived and breathed hockey with one goal: team captain. There's only one thing standing in my way. TJ Beckett.

Beck is irresponsible and immature, and I've hated him since the moment we met freshman year. Yet the coaches see something in him I obviously can't, and they refuse to choose between us. The captain spot is going to a team vote. And the team thinks that what we need are a bunch of challenges to prove our worth. Challenges that have nothing to do with hockey. Challenges that are throwing me and Beck together. And he's still as infuriating as ever.

Beck:

I have no idea why Christopher Jacobs hates me, and I can't say I care. I like pushing his buttons, but the guy needs to loosen up.

I'm going to win these stupid challenges easily and spend my senior year as hockey king on this campus. Tormenting Jacobs at the same time will just be a bonus. Even if I'm getting confusing feelings toward him, I won't let it hold me back. When it comes to competing, I'm all in, and nothing will get between me and the W.

Contains mature themes.

Rivals to lovers faves!

Face Offs and Cheap Shots is book two in CU Hockey series. A MM enemies to lovers sports romance.

Jacobs is the farm boy hockey player, he's focused and goal orientated.
Beck the rich entitled hockey player, who so he show everyone.

Jacobs can't stand Beck and it shows. So when they're pit against each other for the captain of the team the gloves come off. Beck and Jacobs are forced to work together while training young hockey potentials. Beck finds he has a love for more than just teaching.
The foundation of their relationship built on bets and rivalry this makes their story so light and full of banter and often shenanigans.

We also have appearances from our previous CU couple Zach & Foster, as well as glimpses of our next couple!
Alexander and Iggy are one of my duo faves and they bring these characters to life perfectly!

Hugely entertaining - I really grew to love these guys!

Jacobs has always taken his ice hockey and his studies at Colchester U. seriously so it irks him to watch his team mate, Beck, never take anything seriously. It irks Jacobs even more when the coaches propose a competition between him and Beck for the captaincy, despite Jacobs’ consistent hard work and responsible attitude over the years. As Beck does everything he can to get under Jacobs’ skin, neither can deny the growing feelings for each other. This classic enemies-to-lovers sports romance is great fun with lots of snark and humour. I really felt a lot of sympathy for Jacobs and impatience for Beck at first, but both guys have their crosses to bear and it was good to watch Beck redeem himself - they make a great couple. I think I enjoyed this second book in the CU Hockey series even more than the first one - the rivalry, captains competition, and sneaking around was hugely entertaining. Audio narrator favourites, Iggy Toma (as the decent Jacobs) and Alexander Cendese (as the cocky Beck) were brilliant. I’d hate to typecast Alexander, but he really channels the cocky humour in these roles SO perfectly, I can’t think of a better person.
