About this listen

One month—that’s how long it’s been since the System arrived bringing the apocalypse with it. Iain could list out the number of ways he’d survived one catastrophic event after the other, but it would just remind him how tired he is. Sadly, the old saying is true: there is no rest for the weary.

That isn’t to say there haven’t been high points, because he’s had more than a few. One of the latest and greatest of which was dealing with Robin’s ex-husband. That’d been a genuine pleasure. The thing is, those events are already just dying embers in the dark, and there is a lot more unpleasantness on the horizon.

How does he know?

Easy. The System let him in on a world altering secret then dumped him in the middle of a political situation that’s bound to shake parts of the Universal Collective to its core. Worse yet, he knows there’ll soon be hell to pay, and he’ll get stuck with the bill once again.

At this point, the question is, just how many times can he dance with the devil without getting burned?
