excellent sharing of knowledge

This book is a great sharing of knowledge garnered over years. It’s done in a way that it has shaped the habits I now have, & helping to change some old ideas & habits that I need to address.

Inspiring, reassuring and down to earth.

I've loved Ben's approach to health and fat loss, both in this book and in his social media content. I particularly like how this book addresses everyone looking to lose fat, whether it's models and athletes looking to optimise their metrics or people trying to lose weight with the desire to fit into societal perceptions of beauty and health. It gives a unique nuance of empowerment, presenting everything from simple lifestyle measures to highly rigid dietary monitoring and building the education to choose the techniques that may benefit the reader. Great listen, highly recommend.

Evidence-based, informative, and practical

In a field of self proclaimed experts, Ben's integrity shines through as he offers a practical, sustainable, and evidence-based perspective on a long list of weight loss approaches and supposed hacks. Ben is considerate and compassionate toward the very real challenges people face in losing weight, and is holistic and inclusive in his approach to health.

Brilliant, science-based health advice

I’ve followed Ben on Instagram for a long time now. When I saw he had published a book, I knew I had to read it - all of his content is always so well researched, backed up by quality evidence, and he just genuinely seems to care about his audience. His book did not disappoint. If you want, as the title states, a definitive guide to weight loss, this is your book. He does not push an agenda, and just provides you with all of the evidence so that you can make informed choices. If you read the audiobook, the bonus is his voice is so nice to listen to!

Informative + Ethical.

"Everything Fat Loss" is a comprehensive and ethically considerate guide to diet and nutrition. Having first followed Ben on social media, I was impressed by his balanced and thoughtful approach to these topics, which led me to purchase his book. The content itself is outstanding, earning a solid 5 stars for its depth, clarity, and practical advice. Ben's dedication to debunking myths and presenting scientifically-backed information makes this book a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding fat loss.

However, the audio version of the book presented some challenges. While Ben's narration is clear and articulate, I found the pacing incredibly slow. At times, Ben's tendency to over-articulate certain words and sentences made the listening experience feel more suited to live presentations than an audiobook format. This issue was easily mitigated by increasing the playback speed to 1.3x, which made the narration much more fluid and easier to digest (pardon the pun).

Overall, "Everything Fat Loss" is an excellent book filled with essential information, but for the best listening experience, I recommend adjusting the playback speed. Carpenter's insights are worth the investment, and with a slight tweak to the audio settings, the experience becomes much more enjoyable.

Will be referring back to this book often!

So informative and interesting!

limited information

while Ben tries to cover the fat loss topic, his views on calorie in vs calorie out are very simplified. the human body is far more complex and the law of thermodynamics apply to a closed system - the human body is far more complex.
How is fat metabolised and stored and what hormones control this process?
for a more detailed look into the topic I would read - Good Calories, Bad Calories and Why We Get Sick
I believe the obesity epidemic is a syptom of our overall health crisis.
unfortunately this book does not address the causes and simply sticks with the eat less move more concept which has been failing for the last 50 years.
