Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Daniel Sloss' stand-up comedy engages, enrages, offends, unsettles, educates, comforts and gets audiences roaring with laughter - all at the same time. In his groundbreaking specials, seen on Netflix and HBO, he has brilliantly tackled everything from male toxicity and friendship to love, romance and marriage - and claims (with the data to back it up) that his on-stage laser-like dissection of relationships has single-handedly caused more than 300 divorces and 120,000 breakups.

Now, in his first book, he picks up where his specials left off, and goes after every conceivable kind of relationship - with one's country (Sloss' is Scotland); with America; with lovers, ex-lovers, ex-lovers who you hate, ex-lovers who hate you; with parents; with best friends (male and female), not-best friends; with children; with siblings; and even with the global pandemic and our own mortality. In Everyone You Hate Is Going to Die, every human connection gets the brutally funny (and unfailingly incisive) Sloss treatment as he illuminates the ways in which all of our relationships are fragile and ridiculous and awful - but also valuable and meaningful and important.

Translated well due to Sloss' delivery

Tossing up between a 4 or 5 stars review but I'll be generous. I'm a fan of Daniel Sloss and have watched him live and on Netflix - and because of that, the contents of some chapters are repetitive but i'd imagine the target audience are broader and some might not have heard these stories. The audiobook delivery with Sloss' lilt is the highlight (it would have been less funny for me if I read it instead) but it was engaging irreverent narcissistic humour with a hint of capricious profound moments.

Would have liked more content, particularly new ones. Would still recommend/10.

Best comedian, great book

I’m not good at non-fiction, but I’m now a changed woman. I love Daniel Sloss’ comedy, and his book is just an extension of that. I feel like I’m having a beer with a mate. I love that he is the narrator, I recommended it to several people as I’ve been listening. I’m an American, living in Australia, who is half French, and man do I love every comment on every single one of those nationalities. Hilarious and thoughtful.
I’ll also give him partial credit for the end of my marriage too.

Funny

Generally love his way of thinking and sense of humour. Minus one only because it's hard for me to think back and feel like many new points were made or remember anything resonated with me enough to distinctly remember it. Daniel, please do not run me over with the monster truck for this. Also, having him reading the audiobook makes it 10 x better.

There is something truly special about this book. Every time I listen I get drawn into a new section and it speaks to my life at that moment.

Fu*^#n brilliant 👏

Love him. Love his accent. Love his sentiment. Absolutely recommend. Laughed in the most inappropriate places whilst listening to it, nearly fell off the treadmill which I also do but hate every second of.

A genius in the disguise of an a**hole.

If you like Daniel Sloss’ comedy, you will definitely enjoy this book. Or if you like Scottish accents… or hating the English.
