About this listen
A thousand prisoners against one? Bring it on....
The name's Jesy Gilchrest, and I'm nobody's fairy princess. I'm a cage fighter, pack leader, and all around badass Alpha Fae. They say I've got a little impulse control problem, and they're right about that.
I robbed the Vampire King's castle, and it got me thrown into Poison Penitentiary, home of the most bloodthirsty creatures in the Magical Sect. A dark secret haunts this place, clinging to the air like a disease, and in here, everything goes bump in the night.
I'm not worried though. Because I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid. I got caught for a reason. They've got my younger brother locked up in here. He's innocent, and I'll stop at nothing till he's freed. There's just one problem with my brilliant breakout plan. Remember that little impulse control issue I mentioned earlier?
I got in a fight with the warden on the first day, and now she's promised freedom to any prisoner who can finish me off.
Four of the prison's deadliest inmates step in to help me. A werewolf, dragon shifter, vampire, and demon. What do they want in exchange? Let's just say they've got a taste for Alpha Fae. A big one.
Contains mature themes.

Wishing hard that book 2 & 3 were in audible
This got better and captured my attention more and more as the story and relationships unfolded. Initially I judged the prison setting as a little lax to be an accurate representation but I got over that quickly enough. I also judged the FMC as having more sass than skill, but that’s simply because I like when fight scenes are on the accurate and detailed side of fleshed out. When the ‘more believable than not’ relationships between the FMC & the men started to develop my judgey dropped off and I was contentedly drawn in. 3/4 of the way through I looked to see if the other books might be ‘coming soon to audible’ (found nothing) and if they were available to read on amazon (yes, kindle unlimited & paperback). As the story unfolded a few more layers were revealed and by the time I got to the end I was on edge with the anticipation and impressed by the unexpected bomb of a plot twist that was dropped. I dug the mix of supernatural creatures in the mix aswell. The narrators did a good job. Even though the voices of the different characters weren’t hugely differentiated they were consistent and different enough that I barely noticed and wasn’t ever irritated. I don’t normally torment myself with books when I know that the others in the series aren’t available, but I really wanted a different context to the norm and to tune into some female fighter vibes, so the cage fighter in a prison setting got me. I’d trialled a few duds in the free catalogue before choosing this one and in my hurry to distract myself with the next listen I figured this was to gonna be another one. It wasn’t and since my body can’t hold a book without the muscles in my neck and arm locking up at the moment, I’d like to put it out there to whoever out of the author and audiobook creators make decisions re: recording further books, that the next two books would be more than welcome 😌

AMAZING
This was a pretty amazing audiobook. It does end on a cliffhanger which is really annoying, however that does not affect my overall review of this story. I fell in love with the female protagonist as soon as she was introduced. She is totally kick-ass and smart, with a point to prove from the trauma from her past. The story was written really nicely and the narration of this audiobook was bloody fantastic! I always love listening to the rich baritone of Aiden Snow's voice, and this was no exception. This was the first time listening to Avery Reid narrate but she did just as well and definitely added to the mental description I had of Jesy (the female protagonist). I would definitely recommend this book to those who have read the blurb and think they might like it. I hope you decide to give this a go and find you love it just as much as I do. Enjoy!

Escape of the Fae
I loved the many story rolled into one in the book. There is intrigue, action and also done romance!
I really love the main character and the strength she has. I can relate to the struggles she endured, even though she is Fae. I’m sure many other readers will too!
I highly recommend this book.
