Cassidy Hutchinson
About this listen
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Cassidy Hutchinson’s desk was mere steps from the most controversial president in recent American history, and she provides a riveting account of her extraordinary experience as an idealistic young woman thrust into the middle of a national crisis, where she risked everything to tell the truth about President Trump and some of the most powerful people who surrounded him.
Ever since a childhood visit to Washington, DC, Cassidy Hutchinson aspired to serve her country in government. Raised in a working-class family with a military background, she was the first in her immediate family to graduate from college. Despite having no ties to Washington, Hutchinson landed a vital position at the center of the Trump White House.
Her life took a dramatic turn on January 6th, 2021, when, at twenty-four, she found herself in one of the most extraordinary and unprecedented calamities in modern political history.
Hutchinson was faced with a choice between loyalty to the Trump administration or loyalty to the country by revealing what she saw and heard in the attempt to overthrow a democratic election. She bravely came forward to become the pivotal witness in the House January 6 investigations, as her testimony transfixed and stunned the nation. In her memoir, Hutchinson reveals the struggle between the pressures she confronted to toe the party line and the demands of the oath she swore to defend American democracy.
Enough reaches far beyond the typical insider political account. It’s the saga of a woman whose “bravery and patriotism” (Liz Cheney, former US Representative) helped her overcome childhood challenges to get her dream job, only to face a crisis of conscience—one that more senior White House aides tried to evade—and, in the process, find her voice and herself. As the New York Times noted, “In this age of political cowardice and self-dealing, it can be easy to forget that public service is supposed to be a noble calling...Cassidy Hutchinson reminded us what that looks like.” This is a portrait of how the courage of one person can change the course of history.

Very Interesting tale of courage, though a little long
Anyone with an interest in the current state of US politics would no doubt enjoy this gripping memoir from someone who became inexorably intwined in the highest parts of the GOP circle.
Whilst it's no doubt an incredible story of bravery and of country over partisanship, the writing style is very slow. The second half certainly picks up but it's almost like a daily diary in it's level of detail and I think could have been more aggressively edited back.

courageous young women, wise beyond her years
The story was a little slow to start with however it became apparent that the family background and informative years played an important part in Cassidy's determination to do the right thing and objectively reflect on her role in the final months of the Thump administration. There are many emotive and serious moments in the book but also some funny ones as well. I have total respect for what Cassidy has been through, even though my political views are different. Maybe that is the difference between Maga absolutist and those whom can reflect on their actions and admit fault, seek forgiveness, and aim for fairness. This is a great book and all the better because it's in Cassidy's own voice.

Epitome of Courage
This young lady stood up against the giants of Donald Trump and his minions and won. Hopefully, others in the know will take note. It is an amazing story of one young lady who didn't ask for this attention nor want it but bravely stood up for the truth. Could not put the book down.

Shattering story. Well told, heartbreaking.
The author tells her own story and the story of the disgusting final days of Trumps reign. You can hear from her voice of the initial love, support, and respect she had for Trump and his Chief Of Staff. How she overcame her need to support that political family in favour of telling the public what really happened that nearly resulted in a successful coup. She is totally believable, wears her heart on her sleeve, and is obviously traumatised by the whole thing. Well written, well told, and pulls no punches even with a barrel load of self-criticism and self shame.

Great insider story
It is such a difference to get a personal insider story. That personal dimension adds a certain power to what might otherwise be another recitation of facts about one of the most shattering chapters in US history. I found the authors ‘innocent integrity’ helpful in understanding why good and nice folks get drawn into a pit of degradation of moral integrity.

A Comprehensive Journey: From Childhood to Post-Live Testimony
I was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of details from her younger years, which gave a fuller understanding of her story. What a remarkable woman. I’m so glad she narrated her own book, as her emotion came through in a way that wouldn’t have been possible with a print version. For anyone interested in politics or wanting to understand or know the behind-the-scenes events leading up to and after January 6th, this is a compelling listen. I was impressed by the level of detail throughout the book, and I wish her all the best in the future.

A fantastic read
“Cassidy, I admired you the day I watched you testify before Congress. Now that I have read your book, I admire you even more!
The responsibilities you had in the White House alone are to be admired for a young person. The many challenges you faced following your exposure to the corruption and lies by the Trump administration, the testimony you gave, and the way you have conducted yourself with such courage and poise are truly stunning.
I hope my daughter grows to be the exemplary young lady that you are.”

Such Courage From Someone Escaping Trump World
A heartfelt story. Slow but necessary start as she recounts her early history of growing up in a working class, disrupted childhood with a flaky father who often wasn’t there for her.
This part of the story is important as is gives an insight into what happens later.
Her words and descriptions really get a sense of the chaos, distrust and self interest of the Trump administration.
The struggles trying to get out are heartbreaking and you get an insight of how loyalty is everything.
