Publisher's Summary
I know all about guys like Cullen Hunt. Gorgeous. Wealthy. Powerful. I just fled New York to escape one. But when I reach Colorado, it’s either take a job at Cullen’s Trident Rescue or become homeless. And Cullen? He’s worse than I thought. Controlling. Demanding. Jerk. A grenade always teetering on the edge.
He’s also hot as sin and makes my toes curl. I hate that I dream about him. Kissing me, holding me. He has dreams as well. Nightmares that only I can tame.
I know all about guys like Cullen Hunt. I’m smart enough to stay away. Aren’t I?

down to it !
wow, first listen to this author and I'm glad she took this genre for a spin away from her other ones.
I love black ops, military action romances with good angst. this one has it all and a good mix of action and hot lovin romance.
this is also one of the few novels I've listened to, that have been written with gut wrenching barriers that set the tone of the book as well as emotional military backgrounds with both hero and heroine.
I was getting a little annoyed at the heroine due to the fact that her chosen profession should have made her smarter than what she was. she made a lot of stupid decisions and jumped to a shitload of conclusions which, in my opinion would not have been what I'd expect from a woman in her occupational field.
But in saying that, there would not have been the push-pull between the H and H, and the hero would have had to be written in a less intense context ...which you couldn't so as his own baggage is to deep and broken to cut his character any slack.
then there are the rest of trident chatacters which are all set in the same vein.
I just had to keep taking into account the heroines circumstances and her baggage, in order to keep my eyes from rolling.
so all in all, narration was great Christian is a narrator I've listened to before and did a good job with his tone for the different males in the book and did an ok job with the female parts.
Laurie had harder tones to pull off and I liked voices that differed for each female she had to do. her male voices were credible and I enjoyed her narration.
So, obvioulsy room for a series, hot alphas, grittier the the average military action romances ..(except for Kris Michaels) there are a couple of doozies in her guardian defender series ( joseph) Phew!
a slow burn but not so much in the love dept but more in the baggage dept and an HEA ....I liked it.
