Publisher's Summary
When shy programmer, Charlie, is dragged to a "Magic Mike" club in Hollywood by his co-workers, the last thing he expects is to be pulled onstage. But when he's approached by Ramon, a dancer whose only focus is to bring him pleasure, something awakens in Charlie that can't be denied. Yet heated attraction only goes so far when one man dreams of true love and a life finally fulfilled, and the other is still grieving the one he lost, and the mistake that cost him everything. Can a realist and a dreamer from two different worlds move forward and build a future together, or will their painful pasts keep them from fulfilling their destiny? Contains mature themes.

Sexy stripper entrances geeky programmer!
Shy, geeky programmer Charlie is reluctantly dragged along to male strip club for women by work colleagues. He isn’t prepared for the impromptu lap dance from Ramon, the sexy bartender / dancer and he books a private session with Ramon the following night. Ramon can also feel the sexual attraction but his life is too complicated to allow Charlie into his life, much to Charlie’s frustration.
I didn’t mind this. I loved the club setting, the West Hollywood backdrop, and Charlie’s wonderful, paraplegic sister. I also liked the backstories even though the characters seemed stuck and unable to think clearly about their pasts. But I felt the plot was overly dramatic at times, the angst felt a little manufactured. Ramon spends the first half of the book being pretty unreasonable and secretive while Charlie becomes unreasonably jealous and possessive in the second half - I suppose that is the story arc but it wore a little thin at times. Eric London is a new-to-me narrator and I thought he did an excellent job on the audio (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue)!

Melodramatic
The story was interesting but the Charlie character was way too melodramatic and juvenile for a professional adult. The language used was too formal for it to be conversational. The narrator did a good job with all the characters.

very sweet...maybe too sweet?
as usual Ruth gives a lovely romance. very sweet but I think this was too cliched for my liking. I found it a bit predictable with characters and flaws that seemed unrealistic. but then again...I'm a jaded soul.
