Not the worst book I've read but still bad

Having just reviewed Shadowdale which is perhaps the worst FR book ever written Elfshadow isn't that bad but having said this it's still a below average fantasy book. I thought I'd give it a go after seeing a few people recommending it but sorry it's not for me. Uninteresting characters that were stilted and 2 dimensional and at worst cardboard cutouts nucknucking before meeting a deserved and sudden end. This was the sort of tripe that was commonplace back in the TSR days the one of the reasons that FR books have such a poor reputation. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh as this book does seem to have its fans but I'm not one of them. I considered giving it a 3-star rating but really its more of a 2 1/2 star book at best so I'm giving it 3 stars for performance as that wasn't bad as you can't polish a turd.
