About this listen

What if your ex-husband was an abusive, dirty cop, and he was convinced he would get you back someday? What if he was willing to do anything to make that happen? Do you think it would scare off your new boyfriend, a strong, hot firefighter? Not if he has secrets of his own....

Edge of the Heat follows four couples on their journey from disaster to happily ever after.

Following a near death experience, firefighter paramedic Emma Hill's world is turned upside down. Haunted by a vision of the man who could very well be her soul mate, Emma is desperate to find him, but fear stands in her way. With a maniacal ex-husband determined to get her back, Emma struggles to stay clear of him or risk living a life riddled by quiet desperation and abuse. Fighting with a dirty cop is dangerous enough, but when that dirty cop is her ex-husband, the stakes are raised to disastrous levels.

Craig Masterson, the firefighter who saved Emma's life, finds himself falling for her. When he learns who her ex-husband is, he realizes that this is a battle he may not win. Choosing to love her is a deadly game. If he can stay alive, their love may flourish, but only if he can defeat her ex.

The story is not bad...but

The story is good, but I am halfway through listening to the series and just dying. The series is read/spoken is a dead monotone that is so droning and almost painful. If it also wasn’t for the gasping audible breaths every 5 words I would assume it was being read by Siri.
It sad to see such a cool series being ruined by such poor performance. I’m trying to ignore it, and I know not everyone has issues with listening to heavy breathing and honestly until listening to this series I didn’t have a problem hearing people breathe but it’s distracting from the story and your not able to immerse yourself in the characters world.

Interesting storyline

Pity the narrator was bland and monotone. But really enjoyed the story and characters and plot

Amazing Box Set

Edge of the Heat Books 1 to 7 are amazing. I found it hard not to just sit and listen for the 44hrs. They are all beautiful love story's and follow on in each book. Thank you Lisa Ladew for writing them and for the Narrator Anya West. I highly recommend.

Overall not bad but the narration is awful

Overall an easy listen and good story - the author lets her own opinion get in the way in my opinion, but I guess that's her right. I did not like some of her opinions (e.g. abortion and political affiliation). Based on this I wouldn't buy her again.

The narration was irritating and child-like, and robotic. Are they using computer generated (much like SIRI) for all books now??? It's off putting to put it mildly.

Awesome story

The thrills just kept coming! You finish one book and think that must be the end then bam, plot twist, another bad guy and another amazing story!
Highly recommend!

Story good, narration needs work

It’s a good series, but it needs to be narrated by more voices not just one at lest male and female.

Like: Mason Lloyd, Kendall Taylor
: Erin Mallon, Teddy Hamilton

I didn’t mind it (Narrated by: Anya West) but there should be a male voice there too, as I got bored and skipped alot, as I got sick of the same voice, but I could tell when it was a male or female speaking Anya west did good at that as in other books when there’s one narrator sometimes I can’t tell who speak right away and it confuse the story.

This story has a lot more potential to be a fantastic audible book.

Worst books ever!

I have never( in my many many years of audible ) not completed a book. I did 4 out of the 7, but I seriously couldn’t go any further. The lead character has me wishing Norman had succeeded and put us all out of our misery. The orator speaks in questions. I do not recommend this series.
