Disappoint pronunciation of lead characters name.

I have been enjoying the DCI Woodend novels until their conclusion and now we have the DCI Paniatovski series. I can’t understand how this narrator has changed Paniatowski to Ponietoska. It irritated me every time the name was mentioned. Please amend this pronunciation.
