About this listen
Weaving a rich tapestry of multicultural myths, ancient legends, and simple folktales, Anita Johnston, PhD, inspires women to free themselves from disordered eating by discovering the metaphors that are hidden in their own life stories.
"Storytellers speak in the language of myth and metaphor," Johnston explains. "They tell us a truth that is not literal but symbolic. If we hear the stories with only the outer ear, they can seem absurd and untrue, but when listened to with the inner ear, they convey a truth that can be understood and absorbed on a deeply personal level. In this way stories help us connect with our inner world, to the natural rhythms and cycles of the earth, and to the power of our intuitive wisdom."
An immensely enjoyable book, Eating in the Light of the Moon is filled with practical exercises and profound insights. Twenty chapters explore different themes of self-discovery and empowerment on core issues such as intuition, symbolism, feelings, sexuality, and recovery.

life changing!!!!
This book should be part of the national curriculum. every woman and girl should read it /listen to it regardless of whether they have an eating disorder. at some stage all women have body/food issues. This book covers essential and non traditional issues integral to life as a woman in general

Life changing
I started reading this book and felt validated and inspired. It motivated me to focus on undertaking emotional and behavioural changes, whilst feeling supported and understood - it spoke to me. I really recommend if you’ve experienced disordered eating or are exhausted by dieting and dieting culture.

Game changer
Having struggled with eating disorders fo 25+ years and doing sooo much inner work and healing. This book, alongside with one of Geneen Oath’s co-incided to really seal the deal on a few last, yet crucial parts of my healing journey.
I loved the way the author weaves fables with practical and real examples.
Highly recommend to both practitioners and people who suffer with eating disorders and their families.

Interesting
I have never come across this kind of work before - using myths and fairytales to illustrate women’s issues with food - so it was very interesting. Overall, I liked it. It made me think that disordered eating among women is a social problem because of the stories we tell ourselves about how we should be as women.

Robotic narrator
The narrator is robotic and so hard to listen to. If I hear her say the word "goddess" one more time I'm going to set myself on fire.
