It's 3 a.m. and Elizabeth Gilbert is sobbing on the bathroom floor. She's in her thirties, she has a husband, a house, they're trying for a baby – and she doesn't want any of it.
A bitter divorce and a turbulent love affair later, she emerges battered and bewildered and realises it is time to pursue her own journey in search of three things she has been missing: pleasure, devotion and balance. So she travels to Rome, where she learns Italian from handsome, brown-eyed identical twins and gains twenty-five pounds, an ashram in India, where she finds that enlightenment entails getting up in the middle of the night to scrub the temple floor, and Bali where a toothless medicine man of indeterminate age offers her a new path to peace: simply sit still and smile. And slowly happiness begins to creep up on her.

The spiritual revelations.
I liked the answers she received, which indicate that we maybe shouldn't worry so much, and maybe should even enjoy the journey.

Love the story
Just wondering why this wasn’t edited to remove the “end of disk one” “end of disk two” etc. it’s very annoying.

Brave warm and worth the adulation it has received
A very satisfying ending and yet I’m sad to leave. I started this EG journey with Big Magic which is still my favourite but all roads eventually lead to this one. Thank you Liz for opening your heart and soul and taking me to so many amazing places

Masterful, Honest, Vulnerable, Authentic
Surprisingly funny and refreshingly downright self-deprecating in equal parts. A story of awakening to the power that resides within all of us.

Thought provoking
The story gives good worldly insights. Can’t decide if I love it or hate it.. but it’s thought provoking. However the recording skips like a scratched c.d.

Much ado about nothing
It’s my fault. I chose the wrong book. It came up in biographies and I blindly borrowed it knowing it had been made into a movie and therefore must have an interesting storyline. Whilst I can admire Liz’s drive and commitment to improving her mental health it was a fairly bland journey. Sorry. I know others have enjoyed it but I couldn’t yawn past halfway.

Not bad
A little self indulgent, a little too rambly but fun. I didn't think there was such a thing as too descriptive but she gets close. Hate to say I prefer the movie to the book, but there are some wonderful moments too.
