About this listen
The Earth has changed. War is now fought in an alien virtual reality - the Game - where many of the players are anything but human.
Now part of the Black Rose guild, Alan heads to the Academy to level up and get stronger. He hopes to make allies and learn skills to win the battles to come. But with everyone pursuing their own agendas, what can one gamer do in a universe he still doesn't fully understand?

Ready Player 1 meets Expeditionary Force
Ready Player 1 is one of my favorite books. It was the first LitRPG stories I ever read and it was so much fun. Sadly the next few I read I barely finished and some I didn't. I was hooked quite early with this series and finished both books in about 4 days.
I liken the feel of these books as the title says - Ready Player 1 meets Expeditionary Force.
Skippy the A.I. form Expeditionary Force is nothing like Eve though. But the general premise of an A.I. helping the main character to discover the mysteries of the universe along with some sidekicks to help is essentially the same.
Alan is similar to Wade from Ready Player 1. A down on his luck character who seems to stumble into a situation he is ill prepared for yet despite all odds shines under pressure.
You don't have to like playing games to enjoy these books, just understand how they generally work. If you love a great adventure and science fiction then you will love these books.
Nick Podehl does a wonderful job with his narration. His female voices aren't annoying like most males are who try to perform them, his accents are good and he is easy to listen to for long periods.
Buy this, love it, and spread the word so we can get many more stories from Cosimo.

still binging, still in love
while i think book 1 was slightly better, i am still really enjoying this series, and found this book addictive. i couldn't put it down and subsequently finished it in a day (only at 1.65x too)
would thoroughly recommend, unless you have things to do which precludes listening to audiobooks

Can't get enough of this series!
I haven't read many LitRPGs but this is by far the best I have read. Can't wait for book 3!
