Brilliant book, bad narrator.

I have come to be a big Conn Iggulden fan through listening to his books on Audible, and the gods of war is a truly interesting book. However I can't stand the incompetence of the narrator Paul Blake, who insists on mispronouncing every name in the book. For gods sake how did no one correct him during recording? He even pronounced Augustus as Ow-gwust-us I mean come on! when it's the eighth month of the year do you say Owgwust?anyway to sum up my very amateur review love the book and author, hate Paul Blake.

Excellent book series

I really enjoyed this series about Julius Caesar. The series complements the TV series which I had seen before reading this. The extra depth and detail in the book was wonderful.

Julius Caesar comes to life once again.

Loved the story and thought the series was brilliant! Julius was brought to life so well. Congratulations Con!

Terrible narrator, great story.

The narrator's pronunciation is deplorable. I can't believe he wasn't corrected during recording. Surely not a history lover himself.

Pronunciation and Enunciation

The pronunciations where the narrator emphasized the W instead of the V in Octavian, Servillia, etc and made Cicero into a Latin Soccer player called Kickero, turned Pompey the great into a coastal town covered in lava in The pronunciation of Pompei….. was grating and annoying the whole way through.

Epic

You won’t regret this read! Loved the progression from a likeable young boy to the most powerful man in the world, to an arrogant egotistical emperor in all but name.

disappointed

I have read these books many times. parts are missing and there are chapter where the recording is stitched together so poorly that its too hard to listen too. the reader is fantastic and is let down by the poor production. very disappointed
