About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Double the murder means double the stakes in Georgette Heyer's classic crime story.
Inspector Hemingway has his work cut out for him when a seemingly civilized card game ends in a double murder.
The two crimes appear identical, but were they carried out by the same hand?
When Timothy Harte's young fiancé - a put-upon secretary and suspected gold digger - becomes the inspector's prime suspect, Harte is determined to prove her innocence.
But when he starts digging into her past, he finds it's more than a little bit shady....

Not as enjoyable as Heyer usually is
I wouldn't recommend this book if you're new to Heyer, and her other stories are not to be judged by this one. Lacks her usual wit and even the character sketches and conversation seem dry and lacking. Definitely no laugh out loud moments in this one, although Hemingway and his understudy did make me smile once or twice. Nice to see returning characters in Timothy and his brother. As usual kept guessing till the end though which is something, and as always very well read. Matt Addis always does Heyer so beautifully.
