Det er det utrolige ved Ottesen, at hun midt i al fantasyverdenen, åndemaneriet, de middelalderlige kampe, de flotte hingste, de store slotte, balkjolerne, sulten, fortvivlelsen og døden, alligevel får malet moderne teenagere ind med nutidige problemstillinger, så det virker naturligt. Her er ingen slinger i valsen, plottet holder, og det er ren guf for især piger i læsehestalderen. Effektivt, vel udpenslet og i et mundret, klart sprog: handlingen er fængende og problematikken genkendelig midt i alt det middelalderlige. Hatten af.
