The Idea of the 'New Woman' - Mina

Mina's character was interesting, in contrast with Lucy. If you have watched the Netflix series, you will be amazed by the actual story. It has far more to offer than just 'Jonathan Harker's Journal'. It made me think about Mina's position as a 'New Woman'. In my opinion, her character is centred around the idea of a 'Victorian Woman'. Stoker withdraws this inspiration from Collins's - The Woman in White. The first film based on Dracula was 'Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.' In the movie, F.W.Murnau combines, Mina's and Lucy characteristics and produces 'Ellen'. She is a New Woman who is not governed by men, unlike Mina, who is continuously sidelined by the men around her.

Faultless

Skillful, sensitive and faultless performances by all of the narrators. I have listened to this audiobook several times, and yet the depth of author Bram Stoker’s understanding of human nature and the richness of his characters continues to surprise and satisfy. It’s a very long and detailed piece, so be prepared to take your time.

A wonderful Story

This audiobook was a delight to listen to! Not only does the classic story capture the imagination, but the radio story style of the performances adds a layer of emotion that makes the story all that more gripping. Fantastic!

A True Horror Classic

I had long wanted to read this classic which has been so caricatured. Quite riveting and worth listening for the many hours it takes to reach its resolution.
