About this listen
Stay out of the spotlight, grind, and survive...
Choosing a college when your family is struggling can be difficult, but it isn’t supposed to be world ending. And the falling meteor is seriously limiting Matt’s options.
Now in the aftermath, his home city is locked down by a mysterious dome, corporations are looking to monopolize a wealth of new untapped resources, and people are suddenly developing powers via a System that seems to have borderline sinister intentions.
In the chaos, Matt decides to stick to what he knows: use his stealth class to adapt and survive.
Listen as Matt is dragged into a LITRPG apocalypse set in the real world, where the price of failure is death, and the prize for winning is beyond his wildest dreams. Perfect if you enjoy stories with morally gray characters, high stakes, stealth mechanics, System integration, a smart protagonist with weak-to-strong progression, and more!

LitRPG with Death Note vibes.
I dont think there has been another anime/book/manga/series that ive found to scratch that death note itch like this.
Also instead of one smart person the MC has to balance or deal with, there are multiple, some he even cares about, not to mention contenteding with the mysterious "gods" where their motivations, powers and limits in this system are all problems to be solved.
Has me hooked, cant wait for book 3.

Awesome
I've resisted the hype over this book for a long time - as a rule, I never like books recommended by Amazon. But! I'm glad I gave in because it's absolutely brilliant and I can't wait for the next book to be released!!!
It's really well written (rare in the LitRPG).
A nice blend of character tropes in MC that I really enjoyed (outsider misfit with savant like abilities and very anti-heroic tendencies who's smart and calculating yet prone to anxiety attacks...😲)
Plot that is well paced and has just the right balance of action and drama.
No romantic subplot as yet nor is the MC constantly evaluating and describing each new female character on her value/potential as a mate/conquest/whatever. Or the male characters, for that matter. Support cast has depth and grow as MC does.
It's light on stats which pleases me, but the System is interesting with enough variation on the common theme to feel fresh.
The bad guys are a cool combo of mysterious and the obvious and I'm here for it.
This is chunky and dense and very tasty - a delicious meal of a book.
I most definitely want more, please.

DNF
This book wasn't for me. DNF'd around 1/4 of the way through.
There are a few reasons for this:
1. No tension - Despite the author trying, at no point throughout my time listening was I ever on the edge of my seat waiting in suspense. The general progression path of the MC was fairly predictable.
2. Poor character development - The author merely introduced characters and gave a little bit of info on them before thrustenting them into the story. Relationships were build in a single moment or rushed through and there were little signs of character growth for the MC and especially for supporting characters.
3. Bland writing - The writing left a lot to be desired. A lot of the wit the characters were expressing fell flat and didn't sound smart at all.
