About this listen
The very things we do to control anxiety can make anxiety worse. This unique guide offers a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-based approach to help you recognize the constant chatter of your anxious "monkey mind", stop feeding anxious thoughts, and find the personal peace you crave.
Ancient sages compared the human mind to a monkey: constantly chattering, hopping from branch to branch - endlessly moving from fear to safety. If you are one of the millions of people whose life is affected by anxiety, you are familiar with this process. Unfortunately, you can't switch off the "monkey mind", but you can stop feeding the monkey - or stop rewarding it by avoiding the things you fear.
Written by psychotherapist Jennifer Shannon, this book shows you how to stop anxious thoughts from taking over using proven-effective cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques. By following the exercises in this book, you'll learn to identify your own anxious thoughts, question those thoughts, and uncover the core fears at play.
Once you stop feeding the monkey, there are no limits to how expansive your life can feel. This book will show you how anxiety can only continue as long as you try to avoid it. And, paradoxically, only by seeking out and confronting the things that make you anxious can you reverse the cycle that keeps your fears alive.

Some great tips, but cannot connect to the concept
The monkey concept I could not connect to. I can see how it would be helpful to others though.

Changed my life!
I always knew my anxiety was holding me back in life, however, it wasn’t until I started glistening to this book that I realised how life SHOULD FEEL.
I have referred countless people to this book as I know my life is already expanding. The freedom I now feel is incredibly priceless to me. I used to fear and have an imagination that would literally stop me dead in my tracks. Now, I have started to expand and live from a place of feeding the monkey that supports me to live happy.
Please read this book, it will help and you’ll read through it thinking it was written just for you.

Some great strategies but...
...encouraging a worrier to write out in vivid detail their greatest worry is risky business. My greatest worry is my child will be kidnapped and sold to a paedophile ring...among others. It happens, yes it's statistically unlikely, but it does, so it's not even irrational.
Imagine taking that to its extreme in "vivid detail".
No thanks.
The mind of an anxious person can go to some terrifying places and the feelings are not bearable, nor are they "welcome-able", no matter how good that might sound in theory.

Not for me
I think this book is more suited for people with OCD. I'm sure it will be great for people with this condition.
