About this listen

Sometimes you have to be locked up to find true freedom. David Mike swore allegiance to his country in 1987, only to be dishonorably discharged for desertion. One bad choice after another landed him at Fort Leavenworth, a notorious military prison in Kansas, where he starts a new life as an inmate.

Follow his journey as he claws his way toward Christ and away from the past that yearns to destroy him. Dishonor: One Soldier’s Journey from Desertion to Redemption is a vulnerable and compelling look at a life gone wrong.

With stark honesty, David gives insights into prison life and the shame that comes with living a dishonorable life. Through his raw, gritty, personal account, he pleads for you to find the same redemption he found in his life.

Such a powerful & raw story

What a story!

A fascinating, and sometimes sombre, insight how a single action can spiral a life into darkness… and also be a part of an amazing redemption!

Thanks David Mike for sharing such a personal story

A Soldier's Redemption: Drugs to a New Beginning

‘Dishonour’, David Mike's story, narrated by Caleb Steele, is now on Audible. As a subscriber, I promptly download it, staying awake into the 'wee hours' to complete this captivating 'page-turner'! David's compelling storytelling, the convincing narrative, and the seamless interweaving of God's intervention throughout provide a fresh perspective into the heart of our heavenly Father.

If there's one impactful lesson from 'Dishonour', it's the enduring love of both David's earthly and Heavenly Fathers. Both endure shame and humiliation, yet always have his back.

Throughout 'Dishonour’, lessons of God’s forgiveness are reinforced, as is His promise to walk with us as opposed to removing the consequences of our bad choices emphasized. He leads us through, emerging stronger, all in His perfect time.
I wholeheartedly recommend this story with enthusiasm. I am confident that you will find 'Dishonour' as engaging and thought-provoking as I do.

David, Thank you for sharing such a profound journey.

An authentic story of redemption

I selected this book on recommendation from the Guaranteed Goal Community (Jon Acuff) - as a non-American I found it an interesting listen as we don't have the military culture here. As the story became more and more involved it became riveting and I found myself making excuses to go out and walk so that I could listen to the next chapter. Well done to the author for telling it as it is - life is not easy for young people but there is always hope and a way home.
